Short Term Medical

New Enhanced STM Plans: New State, New Network!

National General’s new plan offers:

  • Added benefits for interpretation of labs and x-rays.
  • Childhood immunizations covered first dollar up to age 18.
  • More adult screenings and some adult immunizations.
  • Plans are portable and will not terminate when a member moves to a new state.

In addition, these enhanced plans have no waiting period for preventive care and accidents and a waived 7-day waiting period on sickness if the application date is more than 7 days from the effective date.

Now in Illinois

Illinois members now have access to their enhanced Short Term Medical offerings, including Essentials, Enhanced, Copay Enhanced, and Guaranteed Issue options, with no out-of-network cost sharing penalties and a maximum coverage term of 180 days.

Additional network option with the Cigna PPO Network1

Be the first to offer your clients network choice with their STM plans. With two national networks available, Aetna PPO Network and Cigna PPO Network, you can help your clients choose the network that best fits their needs and budget.

They’re introducing the Cigna PPO Network for the STM Enhanced PPO and Copay Enhanced PPO levels in the following states, with renewal and consecutive plan options in:

  • AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, OH, SC, and WI.

6-month plan options in:

  • MI, MT, and NV.

Open Enrollment Savings

Offer Your Clients More Savings

Get a jump on Open Enrollment and get your clients the coverage they need, now. For plans with effective dates from December 1, 2019, to January 31, 2020, there will be a 5% Open Enrollment discount offered in:

AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MS, MT, NV, OH, OK, SC, TX, WI, WV, and WY.

New options for Plan Enhancer

National General’s Plan Enhancer Accident Medical Expense with optional Cancer & Heart/Stroke and Sickness Hospitalization riders has the following new benefit levels to help you fit multiple deductible options:

  • $6,000
  • $8,000
  • $8,150
  • $9,500
  • $11,500
  • $12,500
  • $17,500

These new options are available in states where Plan Enhancer with riders options are available.*

Medicare Supplement: Now in Minnesota, Missouri, and New Jersey

National General’s Medicare Supplement Insurance is now available for quoting in Minnesota, Missouri, and New Jersey. This brings NatGen’s total Medicare Supplement footprint up to 42 states!

If you’re not already selling these plans, you may not realize how easy it is to land sales quickly.

National Health Insurance Company now underwrites Dental Indemnity in the following states:

  • Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, and Wyoming.

Make sure you’re appointed with National Health Insurance Company to sell these products.

State Introductions!

New to Idaho: Dental Indemnity

Help your Idaho clients protect their healthy smiles with NatGen’s Dental Indemnity coverage. This plan pays cash benefits for checkups and treatments. With three unique benefit levels to choose from, clients can select the benefit level for their needs and budget.

New in California: Term Life Only

California clients can choose from five benefit levels based on needs and budget. All benefit levels provide lump-sum cash that your clients can use any way they choose.

New in Louisiana: Critical Illness-Term Life

This plan provides two coverages in one plan with a wide choice of benefits and costs. Clients or their families get a lump-sum benefit they can use any way they choose.

Important Information

Short Term Medical sales in Maine

Effective October 30, 2019, they will not accept Short Term Medical business in Maine with effective dates later than December 31, 2019. All business submitted by December 30, 2019, with 2019 effective dates and complete with application signature, will be accepted.

Their current suite of supplemental products will continue to be available.

Oklahoma Pre-appointments

Effective November 1, 2019, Oklahoma will move to a pre-appoint state. This means you must have a state appointment prior to any quoting and submissions for all sales in this state.

If you currently have an active OK license and:

  • have contracted with National General in the last 12 months, OR
  • have written business with National General in the last 18 months, your Oklahoma appointment will be automatically requested for you.

If you have not contracted with National General in the last 12 months or written business with National General in the last 18 months, you will need to call 888-376-3300 to request an Oklahoma appointment prior to quoting and selling.

Bundle Billing

Bundle billing is now applied on all National General Accident & Health business.  When you sell any combination of NatGen STM, fixed-benefit medical, or supplemental packages, your members will be billed in a single draft.

Now also available in:

  • CT, DC, DE, IA, HI, MN, NM, and SD.

With bundle billing, your clients get easy-to-understand billing that only needs to be set up once. It’s a simplified process for them and an effortless, automated back-end process for you, too.
